Death Becomes Him
Contemporary ring from Eily’s “Hybrid” range of one of a kind pieces. So-called, as each one is cast from a hybrid of various organic plants or insects. Recorded into silver or gold, these treasures take up a new life of their own and each one is individually named.
"Death Becomes Him" is cast from sea bark with a dung beetles head and crab's legs. The dead dung beetle was found in a sand dune Eily was exploring whilst on holiday and is the other half of "Corroded Dweller" ring. Other areas have been carved from wax to bring it all together and then it has all been cast into solid silver. It features a 14-carat gold setting that holds a beautiful rhodolite garnet gemstone. It is named "Death Becomes Him" as his head has been chopped off and is a nod to the film "Death becomes her".
A unisex ring for either females or males. Size P. Currently in exhibition in Stroud " Show of Hands" until January.
Dimensions 7mm approx band width and 30mm body width and height from the finger of 10mm. The large garnet is 12 x 10mm. It has also been hallmarked by Dublin Castle Assay Office.
